Legacy Life Story Project
Have you ever wished you had asked your parents for more of the details of their lives before they died? This is an opportunity to tell your full story while you can.
Over a couple of sittings, I will film you telling me your life story.
Slowly we will go back into the folds of your life and draw out the details of the events and the circumstances that shaped you, giving a clear and honest sense of who you are, how you have lived your life and what you feel you have left to the world.
I will also film any archive material – photographs, mementos, paintings, objects etc that add texture and layers to the final piece. Once the material has been captured, I edit it into bite size chapters that your family are able to watch when you are ready for them to see it – perhaps only after you have died.
The process – as much as the end product – is a valuable opportunity to reflect deeply on the way your life unfolded, your achievements, challenges and joys, and a chance to thank and acknowledge the people you have loved and who, in one way or another, have contributed to the richness of your life.
John Miller’s Story
John Miller ‘s story is instructive. Over four sessions of a couple of hours each, I captured several hours of video, ultimately delivering 12 chapters, totalling about three hours. Here’s a teaser, the very opening of John’s Legacy Life Story.

Testimonials
John (83) USA/SA: “As I’m forever intrigued by my family genealogy, I fully understand that I myself will be a subject of my descendants’ research into their genealogy. So it wasn’t hard to convince me to try Jane’s Legacy Life Story. While she worked tirelessly to create a video of my life, I became aware not only of details of my biography, but increasingly of my own motivations, relationships, and emotions. Truly a most valuable and enduring legacy.”
Rose( 80) SA: “to remember, recollect, review, record… I have led a long and varied life living in different parts of South Africa and participating in some of the national events in my country. Often, as the evening gets longer and the wine flows more freely and I tell my stories of the extraordinary people I have met, listeners suggest I need to write these tales. I failed to do so but Jane has provided a means to reflect and relate my stories… a record of the times that I have seen.”
