More about Me

The Inner Journey

Alongside my professional work, I have always been engaged in a personal inquiry process — seeking to understand the experiences that have defined my personality and the way I show up in the world.

Most significantly, I have completed the Somatic Experiencing training to Advanced Level 1 and will soon graduate as a practitioner through SE International https://traumahealing.org/

I have practised meditation since the 1980s and have undertaken significant personal growth work through psychology, psychotherapy, group therapy, Family Constellation work, Somatic Experiencing therapy, and other modalities.

I am a certified Reiki Master and a certified facilitator of Attitudinal Healing — a practice developed by the late Jann Weiss that involves deep listening to one’s own and others’ systems in support of healing.

Wizards Michael and Justine have generously made 2 films about me in their ‘Reflections of Life’ series:

Holding Space for Others

At various stages of my life, I have counselled, mentored, and supported people of all ages on their personal development journeys.

I am drawn to working with rituals, rights of passage and the thresholds of life. Death and dying is an area of particular focus for me as I have been privileged to witness this most sacred of all thresholds quite a few times – holding space on occasion both for those dying and for the loved ones around them.

In my experience, we are most beautiful when we are vulnerable. And we can only truly express vulnerability when it feels safe enough to let go and simply be. My objective is to to create safe and nourishing environments for letting go.

Storytelling as a Life Path

For me, storytelling has always been an interrogation of my own integrity and authenticity.

My work journey began in the early 80s with photography. Over time, I expanded my skills across various mediums, including audio-visual, video, filmmaking, documentaries, and television production.

For 30 years, my professional life was primarily focused on directing and producing reality television and factual storytelling. In the latter part of my career, because I love cooking, I honed in on directing food shows. Here is the link to my work related website: https://trinityproductions.co.za/

Within that context, I interviewed hundreds of people about their emotional states, their dreams, fears, and hopes for their lives. Through these experiences, I came to understand and deeply appreciate the gift of inquiry — essential both for storytelling and for understanding the human condition.

Actively practising the art of listening, I continue to refine and extend these skills in new and meaningful ways. My background in visual storytelling enables me to assist others in understanding — and sometimes transcending — their own narratives.

I was featured on the BBC podcast The Food Chain episode “How to make a TV cooking show”.

Today, these strands of my life weave together in the work I offer — from supporting people to resolve trauma in their lives as a Somatic Experiencing practitioner, to filming Legacy Life Stories so that future generations may know their own ancestry more intimately, and creating reflective and nourishing ‘Re-Source’ programmes for weary beings.

Poetry Medicine  – that is a gift – a way to share words as companions for life’s most tender passages.
